Meet Our Team

Sarah Parraga-Martin

Sometimes, life can feel overwhelming, and the parts of us that hold depression, anxiety, and trauma can seem all-encompassing. It can be challenging to find your breath and connect with your true self amidst these feelings. As a Clinical Psychologist and Level 2 Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist, I am here to support you. My aim is to provide a safe, supportive space to help you explore and connect with the calm, curious, compassionate, and courageous parts of yourself.

I believe in our potential for growth and change and adopt a holistic approach to therapy. While IFS is my foundational method, I also integrate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Experiencing, and Interpersonal interventions. This eclectic approach allows therapy to be tailored to your unique needs.

My professional experience includes work in Child Protection and Private Practice, with a focus on trauma, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation difficulties, and relationship challenges. I welcome Veterans, First Responders, Health Professionals, and members of the LGBTQI+ community.

Please note that I do not offer couples or family counseling, nor do I conduct court-ordered, family, or forensic assessments and reports. These are best handled by clinicians with specific training in those areas.

If you are seeking a clinician who is committed to providing a safe, non-judgmental space for you to explore and connect, I welcome your enquiry.

I see therapy as an invitation to slow down and connect with the parts of ourselves that have been overlooked, buried or neglected—those aspects that carry pain, fear, or even protective armour. Through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, my role is to create a space where you can encounter those parts with deep curiosity, care, and compassion. In this space, something new can emerge—a sense of connection, understanding, and the possibility of therapeutic change.

As a registered Clinical Psychologist with AHPRA, I hold a Master’s in Clinical Psychology and bring over a decade of experience in mental health. My practice is deeply rooted in IFS Therapy. IFS allows us to explore how our internal “parts” shape the way we relate to ourselves and others. The process is transformative: what was once an obstacle—whether it’s a reactive behaviour or an unacknowledged emotion—can become an ally in the journey toward self-leadership and therapeutic breakthroughs.

Born in Spain and moving to Australia at the age of 12, I carry with me a sensitivity to issues of identity and belonging. These experiences inform my empathy and sensitivity when working with clients from diverse backgrounds. I have a keen awareness of the complexities of cultural adaptation and the challenges that come with navigating multiple identities. This sensitivity informs how I approach the therapeutic space—ensuring it’s one of safety, respect, and a place where your cultural identity is honoured and understood.

My clients are often those who have already begun their own journeys of self-exploration. They tend to be open to discovering the deeper parts of themselves, and ready to engage with therapy in a way that feels empowering and self-directed. Together, we work with whatever parts of them are coming forward in the moment, whether that’s the part that feels stuck, afraid, or deeply protective. My approach is relational, grounded in the belief that change happens most effectively when we trust the process, trust in the Self, and allow space for the wisdom of the parts to unfold. Sometimes, this process involves simply being with what is present, without pushing for any specific outcome. In these moments, deep connections can happen internally for the client, even in the silence.

I believe in the power of respect and care for the parts of us that have been vulnerable or neglected. A therapeutic space requires a sense of safety, where every part of you can be seen and heard. I am passionate about helping clients recognise how their emotional responses are often shaped by these internal parts, many of which they may not even be aware of. When we begin to identify and work with these parts, they no longer need to be obstacles. Instead, they can become allies—partners in the journey toward a more integrated and self-led life.

I also believe that self-actualisation is deeply connected to understanding and connecting with life itself. This process of discovering who we are is not just intellectual but a journey that involves the body, mind, and spirit. For me, this is not just a profession but a personal journey, one I am on alongside my clients. As a father and husband, I am constantly working to become more present in my own life and continue to grow in this role.

My approach is inclusive and welcoming of all, including those from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds. My sensitivity for what it is like to lean on my experiences in moving from Spain to Australia in my early teenage years I strive to offer a space that holds respect for your unique identity and values.

Please note: I currently do not offer couples or family counselling nor do I conduct court-ordered, family, or forensic assessments. These areas are best handled by clinicians with specific expertise. Furthermore, therapy effectiveness can vary depending on individual circumstances, but I am committed to offering evidence-based care tailored to your unique needs.
